This has always been our love in Dönnhoff's portfolio. In the last ten years, this wine performed up to our expectations every vintage. We certainly concur that it's their flagship vineyard and wine. Despite rising competitions from other amazing Grand Cru dry Rieslings (GGs), it's holding up as our Top 5 Best Dry German Riesling. If cellar space permits and you have the budget, just buy this wine every vintage. No need for any tasting note. :)

2019 German Riesling vintage was raved by the wine reviewers as well producers. When you taste the basic wines of 2019, we think you will agree too! The basic Dönnhoff Riesling trocken 2019 has got the purity and delicate salinity that is superior to previous vintages. In fact, we never used these words to describe the basic Dönnhoff before! So that says a lot about 2019.

Dönnhoff won the "Collection of the Year" in the Falstaff Wine Guide 2021 with their 2019s. A whole seven wines were each rated with 95 points or more. "Individuality, style, inner coherence and reliability. Cornelius Dönnhoff meets all this with his 2019 vintage in an outstanding way," concludes Ulrich Sautter, Falstaff editor-in-chief wine.

'2019 is a classic German vintage with an acidity structure like 2001, but combined with much more ripeness.' Cornelius Donnhoff

'Nowadays most Riesling is dry, not sweet. And German dry Riesling is one of the wine world’s undervalued treasures...2019s are exceptionally good..' Jancis Robinson article on Financial Times.

'The 2019 vintage is the best vintage I have ever tasted for German riesling in my four-decade career....' Stuart Pigott (For those new to him, he used to write for Germany's largest circulation newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine. He now writes for James Suckling)

'The 2019 vintage has produced some of the greatest, finest and most energetic Rieslings of the last 20 years...' Stephane Reinhardt, Wine Advocate
