'No new oak is a recipe that totally appeals to my aesthetic sensibilities with Corton-Charlemagne, and this is exactly how Laurent Ponsot raises his example. The 2012 is an utterly brilliant wine in the making and was one of the most stunning white wines I tasted on my entire trip in November. The deep and fabulous nose soars from the glass in a complex blend of pear, apple, white flowers, a very complex base of white soil tones, a nice dollop of fresh almond, spring flowers and a gently musky topnote redolent of honeysuckle. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very pure and complex, with a great core of fruit, superb soil inflection, very suave, seamless acids and simply brilliant length and grip on the complex and perfectly balanced finish. This is a great, great bottle of Corton Charlie!' (Drink between 2016-2040) John Gilman 96 pts

'A discreet if not invisible touch of wood frames the ripe aromas of pear, apple, green tea and white flower scents. There is impressive richness and muscle to the large-scaled flavors that display plenty of minerality onto the very generous but not heavy finish thanks to the firm acid spine that maintains the balance. This should be approachable young but reward up to a decade of cellaring.' Burghound 91-94 pts.
