If you want to know how complex Pinot Gris can be...try some Alsation Pinot Gris especially one made by Zind-Humbrecht.
Bright yellow colour. The nose shows elegant and discreet nutty/toasty profile. Still very young, it is clearly in need of evolution and time. One can feel that the earth has influenced this wine strongly. The palate comes as surprise as it is much more open than the nose would suggest. Off dry. Elegant, medium bodied, with a good presence and not tiring, there is a lively fresh balance and good length. Much more expressive, the mouth brings nice ripe fruit aromas playing with some flinty/mineral type flavours. This is a very easy wine to drink now, yet showing a beautiful potential.
