This is an off dry, ripe fruitiness, well balanced and round Riesling which will appeal to most consumers or those new to German Rieslings. They practice organic viticulture though not certified.
For those who are new to Van Volxem, they are now one of the fastest selling German Riesling in Germany. Owner, Roman hails from one of the conglomerate families in Germany and his family own the famous Bitburger beer (from Frankfurt) and Gerolsteiner gourmet water served in fine dining. We bought Van Volxem in the 1990s with an aim to make German Rieslings famous again like in the 19th century when German Rieslings were more expensive than the finest Bordeaux or Burgundy! Yes, more expensive than Lafite, Romanee Conti etc.
Now, they have built a new winery and their holdings expanded from 25ha to about 90ha due to overwhelming demand for their wines. They have also been recently admitted as a Member to @meisterkreis which is Germany's craftmanship at its best....Existing members include Leica Camera, Gaggenau, Lange & Sohn, Rimowa..etc.
