One of the most famous wine producing families from the Chianti Classico area, Barone Ricasoli also makes Bordeaux blend wines in the Bolgheri region. This is the region where the climate is suited for growing Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot and where famous names such as Sassicaia and Ornellaia are located.
This Ricasoli Bolgheri is medium ruby in colour. Medium intensity of quite fresh blackberries and blackcurrants on the nose. With aeration, the nose becomes more fruity and the fruits appear riper/sweeter. Medium high acidity, medium bodied with perceptible alcohol..almost high. This wine would do well when paired with food instead of on its own. With simple fruity finish, this is an easy going wine that can be enjoyed over casual lunches or dinners. Definitely a consumer friendly wine. i.e. would appeal to most. If you love Cabernet Sauvignon and love Italian produce, you must try this. We have to agree that it is a good expression of Cabernet Sauvignon from the Bolgheri climate (warm but good cooling influence from the Atlantic Ocean providing some freshness to the vines).
