2022 rocks...since 2018 vintage to 2021 series of very warm vintages Aligote has gone serious following in Burgundy. Its high acidity is a big plus for the warm vintages.
For those who are new to Aligote, it is a neutral variety like Chardonnay but has brighter/racier acidity and slightly leaner fruits. Why drink Aligote? It's one of the insiders' wines because it offers excellent value and acid hounds love them. Do not be afraid of the acidity because you simply just serve it with any finger food or snacks. It's lovely over a hot afternoon in Singapore!
This is no ordinary Aligote but a single vineyard one and old vines from Meursault!
Thankfully the 'bargain' status remains, and Benjamin Leroux's release quickly sells out every year. We only have a dozen or so bottles of this left! This Aligote has a neutral and clean palate, medium-bodied with commendable length and drive.
