Medium ruby in colour. Good intensity. Super fabulous nose of ripe cherries, blueberries and ripe strawberries combo! Medium-bodied. Very impressive medium + intensity of ripe but fresh and juicy cherries. Very lively/energetic Pinot. Must try! Tasted in Dec 2023 using Gabriel Glas Stemless.
Unlike other merchants in SG, we tastes our wines as far as possible and not just copy critic's notes! At iWine.sg, we aim to curate a collection of wines that we are proud to drink ourselves, be it now or many many years down the road!
For those who are new to Burgundy, Chambolle Musigny village produces the most elegant and delicate, fine-grained tannins rendition of Pinot Noir from Burgundy.
Leroux doesn't make Chambolle Musigny every vintage because the regular farmers who supply them owns only small plots. Super mall production. Only about 200 cases made. When the yield is poor, he doesn't get enough grapes or quality grapes to make meaningful quantity. Each vintage (if he makes it), we only get a small allocation. So this is another good reason why you must try this!
And 13.5% ABV for vintage 2020 which was a very warm vintage. So he picked well. Not too ripe/high alcohol!
Fans of Leroux will revel in this!
Those who are new to Benjamin Leroux: He is one of the most talented young winemakers in Burgundy. Allen Meadow (a.k.a. Burghound) called him the heir to the late Henri Jayer when asked by Jancis Robinson MW! That says damn alot!
