This is a very special wine because of its extremely limited availability today. It is also the first vintage of P2 series which replaces the Oenotheque. Plénitude 2 (P2) is the second life for a Dom Pérignon vintage. The second Plénitude (released in 2014), spent around 15 years in the cellars of Dom Perignon, 12 of which were spent on its lees! P2 also has less dosage than the regular release 1998 vintage.
Dom Perignon said that the wine is invigorated by the additional years in the cellars. This is true because on both occasions that we tasted blind, most thought it was 2002 or 2004 vintage. More than half of us thought it was a Blanc de Blancs. Yes, it was that fresh. Dom Pérignon P2 1998 indeed transcends the potential of this great vintage - 1998.
A slow and controlled transformation takes place over almost fifteen years in the cellar, extending and enhancing the wine’s longevity. This is how the champagne builds its energy, and reaches the pinnacle of its vitality. It is brighter and more vital than ever. It unfolds all of its characteristics, becoming longer, deeper and more intense.
The dark, mineral, iodine, spiced singularity of Dom Pérignon vibrates higher and clearer than ever in this wine.
Highly recommended for collectors! Drink now till 2030.
