This is their new Grand Cru vineyard. Actually a parcel in the middle of Höllenpfad (sandstone soil) that has older vines and extraordinary quality of fruits. Finesse and depth as well as the elegant spicy-fruity plus mineral character of Höllenpfad. Extremely limited.
2020 vintage notes:
'Very complex wild herb and berry nose with a touch of fresh pineapple. Concentrated and succulent, yet this remains so bright, the minerality building to a huge climax that is still so vibrant. Enormous aging potential. From organically grown grapes with Fair'n Green certification. Drink or hold. ' James Suckling 97 pts.
'....Old-vine concentration, but also the almost supernatural brightness and austerity of high-altitude, windy sites. Seemingly endless minerality at the finish. From organically grown grapes with Fair'n Green certification. Drink or hold. Stuart Pigott 98 pts.
'Höllenpfad Im Mühlenberg opens very pure, elegant and coolish on the flinty, refined, very well articulated and precise nose. Full-bodied yet super fine, crystalline and salty on the palate, this is a linear, piquant and elegant yet tensioned Höllenpfad with very good length, intensity and complexity. Highly promising.' Wine Advocate 94 pts.
