Pale ruby in colour. Salinity and cherry tomato/tomato leaf on the nose. With aeration, some dark flowers and dark cherries appear. Medium acidity, medium bodied, medium plus tannins (slightly dry but in good balance, food would help) with great balance of alcohol and fruit despite being 14%. Mixed red and black fruits on the palate with the same salinity. Highly individual and what a character...perhaps reflecting on the volcanic soil of Mount Etna! The wine drinks even better on the next day. Must try!
Food Pairing: This would go well with stewed lamb or roast lamb. Roast duck would be great too.
Variety: Nerello Mascalese
