Without a doubt the BEST 1er Cru of Chambolle Musigny. 2nd most revered after Musigny Grand Cru.
It's hard to find Amoureuses from top producers now...so grab them before they are gone. Extremely limited.
Highly rated by both Burghound and Wine Advocate:
'The 2014 Chambolle-Musigny les Amoureuses 1er Cru comes from the domaine's handkerchief-sized 0.19-hectares in the revered vineyard, the vines planted half and half in 1976 and 1977. It has a very backward nose that demands a lot of coaxing from the glass, and even then it convinces you to go away and come back later (like in a decade's time). There are traces of black cherry fruit, a slight gravel/wet concrete scent and a touch of violet. The palate is nicely structured with fine tannin, harmonious and quite elegant, though certainly one of the most backward that I have tasted at this juncture. There is a touch of spice and sea salt towards the finish that lingers long in the mouth. This is an excellent Amoureuses...but it will need time.' Wine Advocate 92-94
'A highly restrained nose requires aggressive swirling to liberate the softly spicy nose of attractively layered aromas of dark currant, black cherry, violet, lilac and plum aromas. Here too there is a lovely mineral streak that runs the length of the refined medium-bodied flavors that possess excellent complexity and punch, all wrapped in a balanced, lingering and lilting if linear finish. While this moderately firm effort will also probably drink reasonably well young I would still be inclined to allow it a minimum of 5 to 7 years of bottle age first to resolve at least some of the structure' Burghound 94 pts
