Louis Roederer is one of our favourite Champagne houses alongside Bollinger and Pol Roger.

2012 vintage (non-gift box):

The subtle bouquet, on the first nose, opens out gradually to reveal spring-like notes of fresh citrus fruit combined with warm, almost smoky, mineral aromas, followed by notes of lightly toasted almonds.

The wine is energetic and with talc-like chalkiness initially, gently coating the palate. Good fruit intensity, medium bodied and nice mouthfeel. The finish is medium +.

The cuvée Vintage 2012 was bottle-aged for 4 years before being left to rest for a further 6 months after disgorging in order to attain perfect maturity. The dosage is 9 g/l.

Blend: 70% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay

2014 vintage (comes in gift box):

If you are after a Champagne that is enjoyable now due to its fruitiness and one that you can cellar for the next 15 to 20 years, please consider this.

'Lucious, full-bodied and crunchy.' Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon, Cellar Master of Louis Roederer

2014 was characterised by mild temperatures and frequent rainfall and a few weeks of high temperatures, a very solid vintage with good ripeness and acidity. Flowering began in June and summer was a combination of dry, wet and cold spells. Harvest took place from 8th to 20th September. In general Chardonnay is the star of the vintage.
