The 40th edition of WIne Spectator's New York Wine Experience, which was sold out in 2021 year and is often referred to as the Oscars of wine, has come to a close. In that event, more than 11,000 wines from every corner of the globe were tasted and competed for major accolades. The highest accolade, however, went to a Spanish wine - Castillo Ygay Gran Reserva Especial 2010!
Castillo Ygay Gran Reserva 2010, from the winery Marques de Murrieta in La Rioja, was unanimously chosen as the number 1 wine in the world. It was also the only Spanish wine to rank in the top 10.
