If you are looking for an iconic Californian producer, Ridge is one you must try! His Zinfandel is superb! Ideally drunk with food.
Deep ruby color. Aromas of ripe cherrie and plums, vanilla (oak), mint and hint of earthiness. Fruity on the palate, high tannins but ripe and integrated, good acidity (for a Zind) and layers of complexity in the finish.
Varieties: Blend of predominantly Zinfandel (68%). Other varieties: 18% Carignane, 12% Petit Sirah and 2% Alicante Bouschet.
