Fresh, juicy and delicious with good depth of flavours and intensity. Enjoyable immediately - just unscrew and pour. Gained fruitiness and structure with breathing on the first day (on Gabriel Glas). New oak is more apparent on the 2nd day or perhaps due to the use of Zalto Burg. We don't know. Drink now till 2040! Only 2,287 bottles made! This is his 2nd best Pinot Noir. Highly recommended! Max. 6 bottles per person.
Made from two vineyards, one in Malterdingen and one in Kenzingen. Both vineyards are planted between 1979 to 1981. Yields are much lower between 25 to 30 hl/ha (this is lower than Grand Cru Burgundy limit!). All grapes are handpicked in small boxes, destemmed and selected by optical sorting line. 50% new oak and balance in 2nd and 3rd year barrique. 13.5% abv.
Rated 95 pts by Stuart Pigott of Jamessuckling.com. In his words: '...Fantastic concentration, elegance and focus for a very dry vintage, the generous fine tannins already beautifully integrated. The mouth-feel is spot-on right through to the long silky finish.'
