Originally formed from cooled volcanic magma, the diabase soil of the Saarburger Rausch comes together with Devonian slate in a remarkable terroir found nowhere else! This 2018 vintage is approx. 20g/l RS. Medium dry/off dry.
Rausch Diabas is a premium off dry wine in a style, comparable to a halbtrocken (semi-dry) Auslese.
Producer's notes: Aromas of candied lemon and pink grapefruit are interwoven with black currant and wet, dark stone. A supple tropical fruitiness develops on the medium-bodied palate reminiscent of pineapple, coconut and cream before strolling hand-in-hand into a vivid sunset of lime and spice. The slightly higher residual sugar is felt more as substance than sweetness, enhancing an inner brilliance from start to finish. A cellar treasure worth holding onto: 2022 - 2045
Alcohol: 11.5% abv
Food Pairing: On its own or with most Chinese or local cuisines.
Variety: Riesling
Country: Germany
Region: Saar
The 2010 vintage is extremely hard to find now! Must try! Off dry.
